"A hat should be both functional and stylish, the perfect accessory for any weather or occasion."
— Isabella Blow
Coming from Blow, who wore some of the most outrageous hats ever created, the word "functional" might surprise you. But she was right. Even the most dramatic hat needs to stay on your head, suit the occasion, and let you move through the world.
This is something I am passionate about in my own work. Every hat that leaves my studio is beautiful, yes. But it is also comfortable, secure, and designed for real life. Real wind, real dancing, real champagne-holding.
The best hats marry form and function so seamlessly that you forget there is any tension between them. That is the goal: a hat so well-made and well-fitted that you can wear it all day without a single adjustment.
Did You Know?
Isabella Blow (1958-2007) was the legendary British fashion editor who discovered both Alexander McQueen and Philip Treacy. She bought McQueen's entire graduation collection and wore Treacy's hats daily, not just to events but to the supermarket, the office, and everywhere in between. Her personal hat collection was extraordinary, and she proved that hats were not costume pieces but a genuine way of life.
